How to add/edit product images in bulk

How to add product images in bulk

NOTE: To import/export images in bulk is possible by using the ORP FTP-server.
ORP will import images in PCM en will automatically update the images of the products.

To add images in bulk, please follow these steps:

  1. First we will have to create the import map on the FTP-server (see image 1).

  2. Before we start uploading the images, all the images need to have the correct format. This is for the images to be connected to the right product groups. (Click to see an example of a format code)

  3. Make sure to save all your images in the required image formats. (Click to see the supported image formats)

  4. From your PC, drag all the images to the correct channel folder (see image 1).

  5. After your image has been uploaded successfully, the image file disappears from the folder you have uploaded it to (see section 4. 'Archiving')

  6. Lastly, the images will be successfully uploaded into PCM, this might take approximately five minutes for the images to appear in PCM.

Format code

Let’s take a look where to find the productcode, product type code and the position number:

  • For the productcode, this can be found in the product detail page next to the product variant label (see image 2). (1)

  • Producttypecode, is the type of the product, in image 2 ‘Black - 105-Black’. (2)

  • Position number is the positioning number for example 1,2,3 etc.

Image 2: Find the productcode and the producttype code at the bottom of the product detail page.

Image Formats

NOTE: ORP supports a few image formats. Make sure to save your images in one of the following formats:

  • .jpg / .jpeg

    .png

Uploading images to channels

When all images have the correct names and are saved in the correct file format, the images are ready to be uploaded to the FTP server. The images can be dropped into the folders of the channel they belong to, for example (see image 1):

  • Magento: /import/images/

  • Amazon NL: /import/images/Amazing NL

  • Amazon DE: /import/images/Amazon DE

NOTE: Resizing

ORP will handle the resizing of images if needed for a channel. The images do need to be uploaded in the proper aspect ratio for the appropriate channel.

Archiving

After your image has been uploaded successfully, the image file disappears from the folder you have uploaded it to. The image will now be visible in PCM. To see the historic image uploads on the FTP, navigate to /archive/images. In this folder (image 3) a full list is shown of all the images that have been previously uploaded.

Successful image upload in PCM

After uploading images on the FTP, it takes approximately five minutes for the images to appear in PCM. On the product page of the product, the images are visible on the right side of the page (image 4) with a carousel of thumbnails. Each image filename will appear underneath the image after clicking on it.
