Introduction

Enriching products with imagery is possible by using the ORP FTP server. ORP will import these images into PIM and will allocate the right images to their masters and/or colour masters. On the FTP server specific folders for each channel can be found under the /import/images folder (image 1).

Image naming convention

Before uploading images, all images need to have the correct naming convention. This is done so that the images can be allocated to the corresponding products. The naming convention format for Essenza home is as follows:

Format: productcode_producttypecode_positionnumber.jpg

The product code can be found in PIM next to the product variants label, e.g. 400362-107-105 (Image 2). The product type code has been provided by Essenza. In table 1 a full overview can be found of the Essenza Home product type and product type codes. Depending on which type of shot the photo is, the product type code can be chosen.

Image Formats

ORP accepts a few image formats. When preparing your imagery make sure to save them in either one of the following formats:

  • .jpg / .jpeg

  • .png

Uploading images to channels

When all images have the correct names and are saved in the correct file format, the images are ready to be uploaded to the FTP server. The images can be dropped into the folders of the channel they belong to:

  • Magento: /import/images/

  • Amazon NL: /import/images/Amazing NL

  • Amazon DE: /import/images/Amazon DE

Resizing

Essenza will upload images with the correct naming conventions specified above. ORP will handle the resizing of images if needed for a channel. The images do need to be uploaded in the proper aspect ratio for the appropriate channel.

Archiving

After your image has been uploaded successfully, the image file disappears from the folder you have uploaded it to. The image will now be visible in PIM. To see the historic image uploads on the FTP, navigate to /archive/images. In this folder (image 3) a full list is shown of all the images that have been previously uploaded.

Successful image upload in PIM

After uploading images on the FTP, it takes approximately five minutes for the images to appear in PIM. On the product page of the product, the images are visible on the right side of the page (image 4) with a carousel of thumbnails. Each image filename will appear underneath the image after clicking on it.
